The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development plans to build three new mini stadiums in the country for N90m, The punch reports.
This was in the 2022 budget submitted by the president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired), to the National Assembly on October 7.
The Ministry of Sports has proposed the sum of N 193 315 083 317 to be spent during the financial year 2022.
According to the budget breakdown seen by our correspondent, the Ministry of Sports should start construction of new mini stadiums with two in Anambra and one in Oyo State.
The projects recorded in the budget are: Construction of a mini-stadium with a capacity of 1000 places in the senatorial district of Anambra South, State of Anambra 30,000,000 N; Construction of the mini stadium, Ode Aremo, Atiba LGA Oyo N10,000,000; and Construction of the mini stadium, Agu Isi-Onye, Km. 70 Enugu – Onitsha two-lane road, Anambra 50,000,000.
The Sports Ministry also plans to complete some mini stadiums that are already under construction across the country.
The project, which would cost 100 million naira, is marked by the completion of selected mini-sports centers in each geopolitical zone.
Another N100m has also been allocated for the “ongoing construction of mini stadiums at GSS Garin Lamido in Sabon Gari”.
