The Ministry of External Affairs offers 75 internships at Rs 10,000/month

IThe Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has invited applications from interested and eligible candidates for an internship program launched under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to commemorate 75 years of independence.

An advertisement issued by the ministry read: “The MEA 2022 Internship Policy aims to bring foreign policy closer to the people; put more emphasis on the MEA; provide value to trainees; ensure better gender inclusion and increase diversity in terms of qualifications, domicile and socio-economic status among the cohort of interns hired by the ministry.

Things to know:

· Beginning in April 2022, this internship is for a duration of three months and will end in June 2022.
· Each intern will be hired for a minimum of one month and a maximum of three months.
· A total of 75 candidates will be hired under this program.
· Selected candidates will be required to undergo training in Delhi.
Candidates interested in the internship must do so no later than February 15, 2022.
· Once selected, candidates will receive a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month.
· The ministry will also provide return air tickets between home state and Delhi.
· Candidates applying for the internship must not be over 25 years old on December 31 of the internship year.
Internships at MEA HQ will be open to Indian citizens possessing a postgraduate degree from a recognized university at the time of application.
· Internships are also open to students who are currently in their final year of graduation, where an internship is a required part of their final year program.
· Selection for the internship program at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is strictly subject to the necessary security clearances.
· The Ministry may terminate the engagement of a trainee at any time it deems appropriate, without giving any reason.
· An intern may choose to end the internship by giving one week’s notice to the Ministry.

· The selection process will be based on a preliminary selection and personal interviews.
· At least 30 percent of the 75 internships can be filled by female candidates.
· The weighting will be based on academic performance assessed by the percentage of marks obtained in class 12 and in the final examinations.
· Applicants should apply online only. Merit lists by State will be prepared – separately for male and female applicants – by elimination based on grade 12 academic performance and graduation exams.
· Candidates selected from the merit lists, which will be announced on February 18.
They will be called for a personal interview by videoconference from February 22 to 24, 2022.
· At the end of the internship, each intern must submit a detailed report on the work carried out and, if necessary, make a presentation.

Works concerned:

· The internship program provides an introduction to the process of foreign policy formulation and its implementation by the Government of India.
· Interns will be assigned specific work topics by the relevant Head of Division (HOD) and may be required to carry out research, write reports, analyze progress of developments or perform any other task assigned to them by the HOD.
· At the end of the internship, each intern must submit a detailed report on the work carried out and, if necessary, make a presentation.
· The result of the study during the internship will remain the intellectual property of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the interns should not use it without the prior approval of the Ministry.
· Interns must maintain complete confidentiality of all information relating to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
