PUTRAJAYA, May 24 – The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) will dispatch more officers to the states to expedite the payment of subsidies to poultry farmers in a bid to increase domestic production.
In a statement, MAFI said that so far only RM50 million in subsidies have been disbursed, although a total subsidy of RM729.43 million has been allocated under the price control program of Keluarga Malaysia since February 5, in accordance with the price cap of the standard. chicken at RM8.90 per kilogram.
The same issue was also mentioned by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday.
“All breeders who meet the requirements are encouraged to submit applications so that claims can be channeled within the promised time frame,” the ministry said.
The decision was taken during an engagement session between the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industries, Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee, and 12 industry stakeholders and breeder associations including Leong Hup Poultry Farm Sdn Bhd, HLRB Broiler Farm Sdn Bhd, PWF Corporation Bhd and the Selangor Poultry Breeders Association. .
MAFI said that to further boost the business of food producers, the Directorate of Veterinary Services will also continue to simplify and speed up the subsidy application process for poultry farmers.
He added that industry players involved in the engagement session expressed their commitment to continue to supply chicken to meet the needs of local consumers. — Bernama
