PAHO commends Grenada’s Ministry of Health for its leadership in handling COVID


Grenade: Country Program Specialist Fiona Anthony of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) commended the Community Nursing Department of the Ministry of Health and Social Security of Grenada for organizing its activities , including a training workshop on the importance of vaccines and the proper administration, storage and benefits of vaccination.

She also commended nurses and the Ministry of Health for their leadership in handling COVID-19 and urged them not to stop doing what she called a great job.

Fiona Anthony added that cases of COVID-19 were increasing everywhere and therefore encouraged compliance with safety measures such as vaccination against COVID-19, correct wearing of masks, physical distancing and hand washing.

The training took place over a two-day period in St. George’s, Grenada, and coincided with activities marking Vaccination Week in the Americas 2022. This year’s celebration is celebrated under the theme – Are you completely vaccinated.

She also encouraged citizens of the country to get vaccinated.

Previously, there was a message from the Minister of Health and Social Security, Hon. Nickolas Steele, on celebrating Vaccination Week in the Americas, 2022. The theme for this year’s celebration is, “Are you fully immunized?” #Get all your shots!”.

A number of public and private activities have been planned by the Ministry’s Community Nursing Department as part of the week of activities.
