New Delhi: Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Petroleum and Natural Gas is to attend a symposium in Gangtok tomorrow, 30and April 2022, as a main guest. The event will focus on “Urban Development in the Northeastern States: The Smart City Revolution”. An online building permit system will be officially launched at the inaugural session which will also be attended by Sikkim’s Minister for Urban Development, Departments of Food and Civil Supplies Shri Arun Upreti and senior officials from the Center and the state.
Three technical sessions on the subject concerned will be held after the morning session. These will be led by senior teachers from IIT, Kharagpur.
The Sikkim event is part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav: North Eastern Festival celebrated in the Eight North Eastern States from April 28, 2022 to May 4, 2022. It was organized by the Union Ministry of Development of the North East region (DONER) with the spirit of “Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahi”. India is currently celebrating 75 years of independence, its glorious history, people, culture and achievements during the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the ministry highlights the beauty of the North East region and its achievements in various fields through this festival. Similar events, with varying themes, are held in various Northeastern state capitals as part of the ongoing festival.
