…Ministry wants transparency, fairness – The Sun Nigeria

The Federal Ministry of Youth Development and Sports has decided to uphold the laws governing football as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) holds its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Sources say the ministry wants transparency and fairness as the Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held in Lagos on Thursday, August 18, 2022.

The NFF Annual General Meeting (Convention) had been suspended since December 2021 due to an interim court order which is now overturned.

Senior Department of Sports officials say the congress must act with the nation’s interest at heart and an overriding desire for the growth and development of the game.

“The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Congress is its supreme decision-making body. The ministry challenges them to act in the national interest and with an overriding desire for the growth and development of the beautiful game.

“As the line ministry, all we want is transparency and fairness. Let them show maturity and listen to all questions, with a view to resolving all disputes, so that there is no basis for bitterness or resentment in the elections.

“The ministry has no interest in who will or will not emerge at the end of the process and all ministry personnel have been instructed to stay away from politics,” ministry officials said.
