KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 – No Kinder chocolate products from Ferrero Ardennes chocolate factory in Arion, Belgium believed to be contaminated with Salmonella typhimurium bacteria have entered Malaysia, according to the Food Safety and Quality Division (BKKM) of the Ministry of Health (MOH).
The ministry’s senior director of food safety and quality, Mohd Salim Dulatti, confirmed the case based on verification of data through Malaysia’s Food Safety Information System from 2021 to present. .
He added that international food safety authorities have also confirmed that the products in question were not exported to Malaysia.
“Kinder chocolate products entering Malaysia are imported from Poland, Italy, Germany, India and other countries.
“However, the ministry would intensify its monitoring of Kinder chocolate products at the country’s entry points to ensure that none of the contaminated products enter the local market. The MOH is always sensitive and concerned about issues that may threaten the health of consumers,” he said in a statement today.

Media reported today that several Kinder chocolate products, such as Kinder Surprise, Kinder Mini Eggs, Kinder Surprise Maxi 100g, Kinder Schokobons and Kinder Egg Hunt Kit have been found to be contaminated with Salmonella typhimurium.
Salmonella typhimurium is a pathogenic bacterium that can cause foodborne illness with symptoms of fever, stomach cramps and diarrhea, especially in children. — Bernama
