FSSAI and Ministry of Ayush formulate regulations for “Ayurveda Aahara” products

The Ministry of Ayush and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) have formulated regulations on safety and quality standards for food products under the category “Ayurveda Aahara”. According to the Ministry of Ayush, this comprehensive initiative will ensure the manufacture of quality Ayurvedic food products and contribute to the expansion of the international market for Make-In-India products. The ministry further stated that it is confident that these regulations will further strengthen India’s global positioning as the guardian of the Ayush system.

According to the regulations, the manufacture and marketing of “Ayurveda Aahara” products will now comply with the strict Food Safety and Standard (Ayurveda Aahara) Rules of 2022 and will only be available in the market after approval by the FSSAI, said said the ministry. He said a special logo has been created for the “Ayurveda Aahara” category, which will allow easier identification and enhance the quality of Ayurvedic food products, the press note reads.

The regulations state that all foods prepared in accordance with recipes, ingredients and processes described in authoritative books on Ayurveda will be considered “Ayurveda Aahara”, he added. (ANI)
