Expect JKN to cover 98% of population by 2024: ministry

Bitung, North Sulawesi (ANTARA) – The National Health Insurance Program (JKN) aims to cover 98% of Indonesia’s population by 2024, the Coordinating Ministry of Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) has said. .

“BPJS Kesehatan (public health and social security agency) has been tasked with providing protection to participants to avail health services to meet their basic health needs through the JKN program,” Andi said, deputy of the ministry responsible for the improvement of social protection. Megantara said at an event titled “54 Years of BPJS Kesehatan Showcasing Across the Country” here on Tuesday.

Megantara expressed hope that the benefits of the JKN program would be felt by the poor community in the country.

“That is why the JKN program has been prepared as a national strategic program, and we are committed to continuing this JKN program,” the MP remarked.

He said that the BPJS Kesehatan program is implemented under Article 34, paragraph 2 of the 1945 Constitution, which obliges the state to develop a social security system for the whole community and to empower vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the country.

According to Megantara, BPJS Kesehatan currently provides health security services to 241.7 million Indonesian citizens registered as JKN program participants.

Therefore, the presence of the Coordinating Ministry of Human Development and Culture in the city of Bitung, North Sulawesi, aims to ensure the smooth functioning of health services throughout the country, including in the city, has he declared.

The event “54 years BPJS Kesehatan present across the country” in Bitung was attended by the Mayor of Bitung, Maurits Mantiri; Bitung Deputy Mayor Hengky Honandar; BPJS Kesehatan Director of Human Resources and General Affairs, Dr. Andi Afdal; and regional deputies and branch chiefs of BPJS Kesehatan, as well as other officials and guests.
