ATHEA selected by the Ministry of the Armed Forces for the last phase of the ARTEMIS.IA project

Dominique Luzeaux, Director of the French Digital Defense Agency and Philippe Gasc, President of ATHEA

Phase 1 of the project was to create a proof of concept; phase 2 consisted of setting up and evaluating demonstrations, in which the platform was applied to specific use cases. This new phase of the ARTEMIS.IA project, led by the Agence du Numérique de Défense , includes the and the industrialization of the platform delivered in the previous phase, and which is already used by certain services.

In the future, ATHEA’s solution will enable the Ministry of the Armed Forces to develop new AI applications within its various systems, while combining decompartmentalization and controlled sharing of information. The potential areas of application are numerous and concern all areas that handle large volumes of data and for which sovereignty and security are essential: intelligence, logistics, cybersecurity, health, for example. A development and integration kit, open to the industrial and academic world, will also make it possible to create easily integrated applications and to accelerate the innovation cycle.

The notification of June 24, 2022 is the culmination of the work of the ATHEA teams, both Atos and Thales, as well as the entire Big Data ecosystem of the defense industrial and technological base. A hundred experts have already been working together on the optimization and industrialization phase of the program for more than a year.

“This first large-scale contract illustrates the confidence that the DGA and the armies have in ATHEA teams to develop a high-level technological solution, specifically adapted to the world of defence.” said Philippe Gasc, President of ATHEA. “The exploitation of data represents a major challenge for maintaining the operational superiority of the armies. We are proud to develop a sovereign solution that will allow France to act autonomously in the fields of intelligence, command of operations and in the ‘digital space’.

Launched in May 2021, ATHEA relies on an ecosystem of large industrial and digital companies – including Capgemini, Sopra Steria Group and Airbus Defense & Space – but also ETIs, SMEs, startups, scale-ups and research organizations specializing in massive data processing. and AI.
