Armenian Ombudsman visits Ministry of Defense Central Assembly Point

Armenia Ombudsman Kristinne Grigoryan and representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s Office visited the Defense Ministry’s central assembly point on Monday to observe the summer conscription process on site, the office said. by mediator Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Kristinne Grigoryan accompanied by the head of the army recruitment and mobilization service of the Ministry of Defense and the management of the central recruitment center, visited the recruitment center.

She followed the project process, got acquainted with the existing conditions of the project organization at the assembly point, the order of meeting, reception and registration of conscripts.

During the inspection of the assembly point, special attention was paid to the work of the medical commission and the process of medical examination of conscripts. Issues related to the process and methods of examining conscripts were discussed with the doctors.

During the conversation with the conscripts, special attention was paid to issues related to their state of health, moral and psychological, and issues of interest to the latter were discussed. Recruits were also informed of their rights, as well as the procedure for appealing to the Ombudsman.

The Human Rights Defender congratulated the conscripts on their entry into the armed forces, wished them a peaceful and safe service, noting that issues related to their rights will be under her attention.

At the end of the visit, there was a separate discussion with the head of the recruitment and mobilization service of the Ministry of Defense and the management of the central assembly point. The human rights defender has been seized of a number of important issues related to conscription and requiring priority solutions.
